Selling fleet vehicles could be a solution if you have looked into asset utilisation for a period of time and you have vehicles that simply do not warrant spending money on due to being underused or because they cannot be reassigned. Something fleet managers need to be aware of are their vehicles’ resale value and how to increase the residual value of their assets for remarketing.
You can look into a number of steps in order to maximise resale value, some of which you should actually consider at the moment of purchase:
- Try to select popular vehicles in the market
- Choose traditional colours
- Maintain the vehicle carefully and regularly
- Consider reconditioning
But there could be an extra tool that could augment your fleet resale value, as some auction companies have recently proposed: NAMA (The National Association of Motor Auctions), an auction industry association active in the UK made the suggestion, during a trading standard seminar, that fleets could benefit from providing vehicle information to dealers when reselling assets.
According to a spokesperson from NAMA, full information on service history, usage, repairs and mileage would greatly help conversions and even the value if it is supporting a quality vehicle.
What do you think about this opportunity? Do you have something in place that is keeping track of all this relevant information? If not… get in touch—that information could today become even more valuable to the success of your fleet.
