New Years Resolutions for Fleets for a great 2024

2024 has arrived, and while we extend our best wishes to all our customers and readers for a fantastic year ahead, we also want at the usual ritual of the resolutions from the point of view of those who run vehicles. Given that 2023 posed numerous challenges, marked by uncertainties stemming from the delayed effects of the pandemic and Brexit, inflation, and economic downturn, everyone is everyone is looking forward to a better year. But how can we positively influence events?

Let's consider four New Year's resolutions that could assist fleet managers in overcoming challenges and effectively managing vehicles in 2024.

  1. Embrace digital transformation. Although "digital transformation" may sound like a term from the past, it is indeed true that, to cut costs, enhance efficiencies, and provide the best customer experience through broader visibility into their operations, companies will increasingly adopt automation. Those relying on vehicles are no exception. If you've been hesitant to implement new software, be aware that you may be left trailing behind your competitors.

  2. Get started with EV. The start of a new year brings new opportunities, and you may be eager to confront challenges and resolve them successfully. However, a new year means time is passing and you have less and less margin to adapt to new regulations and targets. In 2024, new electric vehicles with more advanced technology will emerge. If you haven't explored electric vehicles yet, it's high time to start doing so. A suitability report might be just what you need.

  3. Be open to different ways of doing things. If you adhere to the "We have always done so" approach but recognize that your fleet activity has room for improvement, why not testing new procedures? While small businesses often concentrate on stakeholders' opinions, routines, and mastermind meetings – all of which are undoubtedly essential – the increasing integration of platforms and systems into business processes means there's more data than ever to collect. Ensuring that your fleet data is condensed and transformed into reports could be the key to your empowerment.

  4. Reward your drivers. The ongoing global shortage trend that has affected the past years will persist, along with discussions on how to attract young talent. Ensure you establish suitable programs to train and reward your drivers. You might even want to explore alternative solutions, leveraging gamification to organize driver competitions.
