Managing fleets, organising drivers, taking care of the maintenance—we can never emphasise enough—is all about multitasking and communicating efficiently within your team. But, particularly these days, it is not just about great communication skills, overseeing journeys, planning maintenance and organising fuel cards etc., it’s also about finding time to for something very, very important—yes, Euro 2016 has finally arrived!
If you haven’t quite had your fill of football at the end of the domestic season, you have an extra opportunity to enjoy “The Beautiful Game” as the European championship kicks off. Concentrating on all this football may inspire you to imagine yourself as a football coach if you are a fleet manager, or as one of the better-known players if you are a driver. If you think about it, a fleet is a little like a football team: though the duties last longer than the 90 minutes or the championship, it still depends on the collaboration between all team members, from the goalkeeper to the defenders, from the midfielders to the forwards—everyone contributes to the team’s success. Preparation and strategy are important and indeed the role of the coach, who pulls the team together and encourages them, can be seen as similar to that of the fleet manager.
But… while it is very nice and indeed motivating to liken yourself to one of your football heroes and to fantasize while you are getting ready to watch the next competition, whether at home or gathering friends at your local pub… who is taking care of your fleet in the meantime?
The answer is pretty simple: if you have SynX, you can watch the game with the peace of mind that you have everything under control. Alerts will let you know if there is any dangerous driving event, or if a van goes out of its area of operation (with geofence you can do this!). And yes, though we actually think thieves would be more interested in watching the game than in taking advantage of the situation, chances are that some of them prefer Formula 1 to football, and might get away with your vehicles unnoticed. But again, with SynX you can easily prevent theft and… continue to enjoy the game.
And what about the carbon footprint?
You might be staring at these lines in bewilderment, thinking this has no connection with football, but you would be mistaken: according to an article published by Business Green reporting on data provided by Carbon Trust—an organisation trying to contribute to carbon footprint reduction and promoting a sustainable future—watching a game in the pub is more environment-friendly than actually going to a game. Carbon Trust has also created an interesting infographic about the carbon footprint made by different football nations’ fans:

Will the championship follow the same results of the chart? It would indeed be surprising if some of the team results matched up. But once again, if you want to meet the challenge of having a green fleet (to continue with the footballing analogy) choose SynX for a winning formula—you won’t regret it!
Anyway, whether it’s on the football pitch, the road or in business… may the best team win!
