And what if Santa Claus had GPS tracking technology?

Christmas is obviously the busiest time for Santa Claus! According to US tradition, we imagine him setting off from the North Pole, or, in keeping with European culture, setting off from his hometown, Rovaniemi, in Lapland… either way there is plenty of traveling, and much to do, for Santa Claus—or Father Christmas, if you prefer!

Some of the worries Santa might face are not so dissimilar to that of fleet managers and drivers everywhere: delivering on time, travelling according to time constraints over long distances with an eye to optimising routes, making sure the communication with the ‘little helpers’ is effective enough to get everything done and keep everyone happy. These are just some of the tasks that GPS tracking technology, or a good fleet management system, could help with.

But this is just the start—if Santa only had access to the potential of telematics, Christmas would be so much easier and kids everywhere would reap the benefits.

How could it be done?

Here are a few examples that might put a smile on your face or finally convince you that this Christmas could very well be the time for that extra special present for your business—a fleet management solution like SynX!

#Find the fastest route to the children’s happiness

Well, Santa Claus presumably does roughly the same journey every year—assuming children are going to be good again—so, perhaps, the routes should be checked to see if there is any alternative that would allow Father Christmas to accomplish his mission in a quicker, more efficient way?

#See where your sleighs are

Santa Claus is typically helped by Christmas elves who take care of the toys and the reindeer; all of this of course with the aid of GPS tracking … which could actually follow the sleigh and check how the deliveries are progressing!

#Geofence those who have been good children!

It might sound like fantasy, but why not set-up a virtual perimeter to ensure Santa is actually reaching the good children with his presents, and alert him if he strays outside the perimeter?

#What about the servicing …

Is the sleigh fine, are the reindeer been well fed so they are ready for the long journey ahead? Make sure everything is set up well before the 25th with friendly alerts…. What could be better than that?

You may be able to add to this list of creative telemetric options for this fun Father Christmas/Santa Claus scenario? Or, has this short list inspired you enough to actually ask him to bring this technology to your business?
