3 wise ways to spend the year-end budget your fleet will be glad of.jpg

It is that time of the year again: the end of 2016 is fast approaching. People are getting excited about the holidays or either looking forward to time with their family and friends. But, indeed, it is also the time of year that many professionals are assessing the remainder of the budget and wondering just what to spend it on.

We’re not sure if this situation currently applies to you but if it does, you may experience two different scenarios. Case one: you may be able to carry any left over budget into next year which is great. No pressure there, then. Case two: and this is what normally happens to most companies; you may have to spend whatever is leftover or your budget might be cut next year. This is not so great and often leads to some agonising over how best to utilise the last of your yearly budget.

What, then, are the areas of your fleet you should be looking to invest in wisely, without being too obsessed with the “use it or lose it” approach and spending imprudently?

1 - Install more telematics

If you have enjoyed the benefits of fleet telematics in parts of your fleet and are looking to install it on the rest of your vehicles, take advantage of this period of the year and your budget remainder. You can profit from both the downtime to get installations ready quickly and do something valuable for your company. Even if you do not have telematics installed yet, contact us for a free demo; and we will set everything up so as to kick off the New Year in top gear!

2 - Go paperless

If you still have some paperwork or procedures that need to be recorded and take up a lot of time, look into going paperless: this is now possible for many tasks from walkaround checks to logging driver hours. Learn just how easy it could be to streamline processes like keeping logbooks and paperless vehicle checks and profit from your end of year budget!

3 - Check out vendors, contracts and pending tasks

The end of the year is a great time to check out how much you spent on servicing or maintenance and also your vendor agreements to see if you can switch providers; try them out using the remainder of the budget or complete something that had originally been postponed because it wasn't necessarily top priority.
