After being showcased at the last Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham in mid-April, the new, very affordable, Dacia Duster Van has been launched in an effort to expand into the UK and Irish commercial vehicle market.

The van version of the successful passenger car model is actually very similar to its predecessor; you notice the blanked-out rear windows as you approach the van, and the absence of back seats frees up considerable space for the substantial load bay.

The new Dacia Duster Van will be available in a standard version known as “Ambiance” and in a full-optional model called “Laureate”. Both versions will be available as 4x2 and 4x4, with a 1.5-litre, 107 hp dCi 110 diesel engine.

The standard model includes roof bars, electric front windows, ABS brakes, Anti-skid Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control, while the Laureate includes additional features such as Trip Computer and Cruise Control.

The commercial van will be available in its basic version—the dCi 110 4x2 Ambiance—for £9,595 (around €13,000).

Dacia’s brand manager in the UK, Andy Heiron, maintained that the objective is to introduce Dacia and consolidate the brand in the UK and Ireland, offering a value-for-money product with transparent pricing.

The passenger car version of the Dacia Duster has sold more than 13,000 units since its launch in 2013, so the van version is expected to be just as successful.
