FedEx Custom Critical is a subsidiary service of the FedEx Corp. FedEx Custom Critical has safely transported one of the largest complete Tyrannosaurus Rex skeletons from the Museum of the Rockies in Montana, to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. allowing hundreds of millions of people to eventually view this extremely rare dinosaur skeleton.
Measuring 11.6m long and weighing 7 tonnes, the T-Rex skeleton made the journey from Montana to Washington on a specially-branded FedEx Custom Critical truck. The truck, driven by a husband and wife team, was equipped with the latest in innovative technology. This included a GPS system programmed with the optimal route identified by the FedEx Custom Critical White Glove Services team.
Throughout the four-day journey, proactive monitoring and visibility were provided through Shipment Watch. This is a new FedEx Custom Critical Service that utilises SenseAware devices in order to observe the shipment’s defined specifications such as temperature, humidity, light exposure and barometric pressure whilst in transit. This unique offering helps FedEx to safely deliver priceless artefacts such as the T-Rex.
